Welcome to our special segment, DRS or the Daily Review System. In this, InsideSport will provide you with the top cricket stories from a day before that you might have missed in the hustle and bustle of your busy life.

December 5 was a day dominated by domestic cricket in India. Baroda added records into history books by scoring 349 runs in just 120 balls and hitting 27 sixes. Abhishek Sharma scored a 28-ball hundred, the joint second-fastest in T20 history. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ajinkya Rahane both got dismissed in the 90s. Bhuvneshwar Kumar also took a hat-trick in the 17th over. All of this happened in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024-25. Coming to international cricket, India cricket team captain Rohit Sharma decided to bat down the order and let KL Rahul continue as the opener in the India vs Australia Test series. And oh, the Champions Trophy 2025 saga continues as the meeting between the ICC and boards got postponed.

Rohit Sharma, back to middle-order after 6 years

Rohit Sharma has sacrificed his own opening spot and handed it to KL Rahul, who was Team India’s best batter in the Perth Test. The skipper had missed the first match, and upon seeing how well Rahul did with Yashasvi Jaiswal, he’s decided to bat in the middle order. Where exactly? Even he isn’t sure about that yet, but in all likelihood, it’ll be number 6.

The meeting for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has been delayed yet again. It’ll now take place on December 7. Earlier, reports had suggested that PCB had accepted to host the tournament in a hybrid model but had presented the BCCI and ICC with a few demands of their own.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar makes RCB fans happy with hat-trick

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are thinking that Rs 10.75 crore spent on Bhuvneshwar Kumar isn’t expensive at all. That’s because Bhuvi bowled a maiden 17th over and claimed a hat-trick in the over as well. In all, he gave away just 6 runs in 4 overs. Talk about miserly figures.

Prithvi Shaw needs to lose weight to save career

Former Indian national selector Jatin Prajapane has advised Prithvi Shaw to lose 7 to 10 kilograms of body weight if he wishes to return to the IPL and Team India. He believes the 25-year-old opener has a chance to make a comeback and feels that as far as talent goes, Prithvi belongs in the same category as Yashasvi Jaiswal or Sanju Samson.

Ruturaj Gaikwad & Ajinkya Rahane fall victim to nervous nineties

After a string of low scores, Ruturaj Gaikwad finally came good. The Maharashtra captain scored 97 runs in just 48 balls against Services and won them the match.
