And once again, despite all the buildup, the Champions Trophy 2025 schedule remained unannounced on Saturday as well. But then, as per various reports, the IND vs PAK match will happen on Feb 23, as scheduled, at a neutral venue — Dubai or Sri Lanka. One of the major highlights of the day was the inception of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, where the likes of Shreyas Iyer, and Abhishek Porel emerged as the top performers.

Champions Trophy Tentative Schedule Announced

As per a report in RevSportz, the Champions Trophy will begin on Feb 19 in Karachi, with Pakistan and New Zealand playing the first match. Indian will play their first match vs Bangladesh on Feb 20, followed by the IND vs PAK match on Feb 23. The Rohit Sharma-led team will play their last group match vs New Zealand on March 2. If India does make it to the semis and final, those matches will be moved to a neutral venue as well.

New BCCI Secretary by January 12?

As per a fresh report, the BCCI will hold elections for the post of secretary and treasurer on January 12. Devajit Saikia was named the interim secretary after Jay Shah left the post vacant, and the former will continue to hold the post, until a new person is elected. As per Cricbuzz, the BCCI has called for an AGM on Jan 12.

Aussie Media Targets Ravindra Jadeja

The Aussie media persons were left red-faced, where despite being allegedly invited for a Ravindra Jadeja press conference, the latter chose to answer in Hindi only. Not just that, Jaddu was also accused of refuting to answer a question posed by the foreign media on the pretext of getting late for the team bus. The entire incident has come a day after the infamous Virat Kohli episode, where he was filmed by the Aussies without his permission.

Krishnan Shrijith Outshines Shreyas Iyer, Abhishek Porel

At the start of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Mumbai skipper Shreyas Iyer continued his fine form, and struck yet another ton in this domestic season 2024-25. He scored 101 from only 55 balls, that took his team to a massive 382 runs in 50 overs. But youngster Krishnan Shrijith had other plans. He scored 150 from 101 deliveries to take Karnataka to second highest run-chase in VHT. Meanwhile, in another match, Bengal’s Abhishek Porel slammed 170 in 130 deliveries vs Delhi.

CSK Discard Sameer Rizvi Slams 200

In an U23 match, former CSK batter, now with DC, Sameer Rizvi slammed 201 in only 97 balls in age group tournament. The highlight of his innings was, he slammed 20 sixes, and 13 fours to finish with a strike-rate of over 200. Rizvi was playing for UP, and scored his runs against a lowly Tripura.

KL Rahul Injured During Training at MCG?

In what could be a massive blow to Team India, during a practice session on Saturday, India opener KL Rahul suffered a wrist injury during nets. Although he was attended by the physio immediately, he was seen with tight taping and strapping in the affected area. It must be reminded, that Rahul has been one of India’s most promising batsmen in the IND vs AUS series so far.
