Jake Fraser-McGurk. That’s the name you have to remember. The fiery Australian opener proved to the world yet again as to why he is one of the best in the business and more so, made his case for his inclusion in Australia’s T20 World Cup squad. A South African also grabbed eyeballs with his picture-perfect finishing ability. We are talking about none other than Tristian Stubbs. Alas, everything went right for DC as they clinched a convincing win over MI.
The second game saw LSG get a ‘Royal’ thrashing, courtesy of Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel. RR just can’t stop winning and they have now extended their domination by grabbing yet another win and sealing their spot in the IPL 2024 playoffs. KL Rahul’s efforts went in vain as the duo of Samson and Jurel stole victory from LSG right under their noses. On that note, let’s revisit some of the top headlines from the double-header on Saturday.
Fraser-McGurk, remember the name
Delhi Capitals opener Jake Fraser-McGurk went bonkers in the powerplay against the MI bowlers as he smashed a half-century off just 15 deliveries. Earlier in IPL 2024, the Australian batter raced to a fifty off the same 15 deliveries in the game against SRH on April 20. The young batter’s third fifty in IPL 2024 comes as a positive side for Australia ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024.
MI get ‘Stubbed’
Tristian Stubbs showed the world why he is regarded as one of the best finishers in the game once again, with his fast-paced knock against MI. The Proteas star scored a quickfire 48-run knock off 25 deliveries, helping DC set a mammoth total for MI.
Finally, the Hardik we all want to see
Here he comes again! After facing all the hate and negativity, Hardik Pandya is back in form. He played a fiery knock of 46 runs in just 24 balls against the Delhi Capitals. He came to bat when the team was at 65 runs and had lost three wickets. With a striking rate of 191.67, which included four boundaries and three sixes, he did a wonderful job this time.
A Sanju Samson- DJ show
A sensational partnership between skipper Sanju Samson and the young talent Dhruv Jurel brought Rajasthan back from the brink. The duo batted with both composure and aggression, stitching together an unbeaten 121-run stand in a mere 62 balls. Jurel played a crucial supporting role, scoring a brisk 52 runs off 34 deliveries. But it was Sanju Samson who stole the show with a captain’s knock. He played a blazing innings of 71 runs off just 33 balls, ensuring a thrilling victory for the Royals.
Pant to face ban?
It looks like Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant might face stringent action after yet another game where a slow-over rate was maintained. DC clinched a convincing 10-run victory over MI at the Arun Jaitley stadium in Delhi. Pant was previously fined twice (Rs 12 lakh + Rs 24 lakh) for the same offence and he is likely to be banned for one game if found guilty this time.
Thunder Bolt and Sharma storm
The experienced Trent Boult, known for his knack of picking up early wickets, lived up to his reputation by dismissing Quinton de Kock in the very first over. Boult’s lethal delivery rattled De Kock’s stumps, leaving LSG with a jolt. Sandeep Sharma, his partner in pace, complemented Boult brilliantly
