DRS, April 14: Bumrah & Karun Nair fight, Dhoni can’t do anything for CSK & no IND vs PAK in Olympics?

Welcome to our special segment, DRS or the Daily Review System. In this, InsideSport will provide you with the top cricket stories from a day before that you might have missed in the hustle and bustle of your busy life.

Another double-header day in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The first match was won by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Jaipur against Rajasthan Royals (RR). Virat Kohli created a record in what was an otherwise one-sided game. The Delhi Capitals (DC) vs Mumbai Indians (MI) match went down to the wire, and the standout moment was a verbal fight between Jasprit Bumrah and Karun Nair.

In other IPL news, DC vice-captain Faf du Plessis shared that he might miss more games, and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) head coach Stephen Fleming shared his thoughts on the coming matches with MS Dhoni as captain.

There was some non-IPL buzz as well. We got some exclusive news regarding India and Pakistan playing cricket in the LA 2028 Olympics. And fans online took aim at the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for their weird match awards.

DRS, May 14: Gujarat Titans out of IPL 2024 English players leave, Matheesha Pathirana declared fit and no trouble in LSG paradise.

No India vs Pakistan cricket match in Olympics?

There is a possibility that India and Pakistan won’t meet each other at the LA 2028 Olympics. For the unaware, cricket has been reintroduced to the biggest sporting event. However, there is no certainty regarding the two arch-rivals playing each other. InsideSport talked with an ICC official about it. Read more here.

Jasprit Bumrah vs Karun Nair

Karun Nair was the centre of attention in the DC vs MI match. In what was his first IPL match after 3 years, he top-scored. Nair scored 89 (40) and smashed Jasprit Bumrah all over the park. But perhaps the most electric moment of the match was a verbal fight between Nair and Bumrah. It happened after the batter mistakenly collided with the pacer. Watch Bumrah’s reaction here.

Virat Kohli scores his 100th T20 fifty

Yet another day, yet another record for Virat Kohli. The star batter scored a match-winning half-century against RR in Jaipur. And as it turns out, it was Kohli’s 100th T20 fifty. No other Indian batter has even scored 90. And only one other batter has over one hundred fifties to their name, David Warner (108).

Karachi Kings’ peculiar award for James Vince

James Vince scored a match-winning hundred against Multan Sultans. But his century wasn’t the talking point. It was instead the ‘Reliable Player of the Match’ award he received in the Karachi Kings dressing room. What was the award, you ask? Well, a hair dryer. Watch the video here.

Making MS Dhoni CSK captain won’t change anything

CSK head coach Stephen Fleming has given their fans a realistic view of what’s about to come. Due to Ruturaj Gaikwad getting ruled out of the IPL 2025 season due to an elbow injury, MS Dhoni has been named CSK captain. Fleming had clearly stated that Dhoni can’t suddenly change everything, and to expect that from the 10th, they’ll move to the 1st spot on the points table, will be too much.

Faf du Plessis to miss 2 more matches?

Delhi Capitals haven’t just lost their match. They may have also lost their vice-captain Faf du Plessis to injury. The South African had injured himself and missed the fourth game DC played. But since he played against RCB, he might have aggravated his injury and is at risk of missing two more matches in the IPL 2025 season.
