Dream T20I Team: Ahead of the big Semifinal clash against England, Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant picked his Dream T20I Team in a press conference, and to everyone’s surprise, neither Virat Kohli nor the number one ranked T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav made the cut. Along with selecting himself, Pant also selected Jos Buttler, the captain of England, as the first batter, and Liam Livingstone, an all-rounder for the Three Lions. The first five players on his dream T20I team were Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan and India bowler Jasprit Bumrah.

  • In the first five players on his Dream T20I Team, Rishabh Pant only included himself and Jasprit Bumrah from among Indian players.
  • Jos Buttler and Rashid Khan were the next two players Pant chose for his Dream11 starting five.
  • India play England in the second semifinal of the T20 World Cup 2022 at 1:30 PM.

“The first five players which I would pick in a T20 XI for my side are… Jos Buttler,” said Pant as quoted by ICC. “Whenever he comes to bat, especially in T20s, I feel he can hit anywhere in this world.”

Pant acknowledged his admiration for Livingstone’s game but added that he had no doubts about selecting Bumrah.

“And Rashid, he’s been a mystery spinner over a period of the last six, seven years now. I love him and he can contribute with the bat too,” Pant explained his decision to include the Afghan spinner in his team.

“Because I’m choosing this team, I have to be in it,” Pant joked. “I have to go there because I have to select myself,” he continued.

For India’s first four matches in the Super 12 stage, Rishabh Pant wasn’t included in the starting lineup. However, he was given the opportunity to play before Dinesh Karthik in India’s last Group 2 match. The southpaw failed to make an impression and went to a 5-ball 3.

Pant’s inclusion against Zimbabwe, according to skipper Rohit Sharma, was a “tactical” choice to provide the 25-year-old some playing time in case he is required in the tournament’s knockout round.
