Legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar praised the performances of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sarfaraz Khan after their standout displays in Rajkot, referring to them as ‘double trouble’ for England. The duo’s unbroken 172-run partnership propelled India to 430 for 4, prompting captain Rohit Sharma to declare and set a daunting target of 557 runs for England, marking the first such declaration against England in the ‘Bazball’ era.
Tendulkar, taking to the social media platform ‘X’, lauded Jaiswal and Sarfaraz for their impactful contributions.
“This duo of Yashasvi & Sarfaraz has been double trouble for England. I couldn’t watch them play live, but was very pleased to hear about their knocks. Keep it up!” wrote Sachin.
Yashasvi Jaiswal- Sarfaraz Khan power India to mammoth lead:
Jaiswal’s remarkable double century on Day 4 made him only the third Indian batsman to achieve back-to-back double centuries in Test cricket, following the footsteps of Virat Kohli and Vinod Kambli.
Meanwhile, Sarfaraz joined an elite group as the fourth Indian to score twin half-centuries on Test debut, alongside Sunil Gavaskar, Dilawar Hussain, and Shreyas Iyer.
Jaiswal’s unbeaten 216 off 296 deliveries, comprising 16 boundaries and 12 sixes, boosted his series tally to 545 runs in six innings. He even matched former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram’s longstanding record for most sixes in a Test innings.
Sarfaraz, on the other hand, remained unbeaten on 68 runs from 72 balls in the second innings, adding to his 62 runs from the first innings.
