‘Don’t think that Indian batters’: Brad Haddin downplays India as mind games begin before IND vs AUS Tests

While Brad Haddin downplays India, Aaron Finch claims batters of both side will suffer against pace attack in Australian pitches

Just 10 days remain before the start of the Border Gavaskar Trophy and the mind games are already at play. Former Australia skipper Brad Haddin has already downplayed the visitors. He has claimed that the India Cricket Team batters won’t be able to stand up to the sheer pace of the Australian pacers.

India is slated to take on Australia for a 5-match Test series in Down Under. The odds are placed against India after their humiliating 3-0 whitewash to the Kiwis at home. But Rohit Sharma and Co will be desperate to set the record straight as they begin the Border Gavaskar Trophy at Perth on 22nd November.

Haddin believes Indian batters can’t face Australian pacers

“I don’t think that the Indian batters are going to stand up to our quicks. I know Jaiswal is a really good player, but he hasn’t come out and seen Australia before, so I’m not sure whether he is going to handle the bounce. Opening in Perth is hard work,” Haddin said on the LiSTNR Sport podcast.

The former Australian skipper also added that he recognizes that Yashasvi Jaiswal is a very good player. But the youngster will be troubled since this would be the first time that he would be playing in Australia. The Southpaw who made his Team India debut last year has traveled to Australia for the first time.

On the other hand, Aaron Finch claimed that not just India, but Australia’s top order will also be troubled by India’s pace attack.

“I think the key could be Alex Carey and Rishabh Pant, the two wicketkeepers are going to be so important. At one time or the other in the series, the top order will get knocked over. Both fast-bowling attacks are so good that they will get on a roll and knock over the top order. So for me it’s that really crucial role of Alex at No. 7 and Rishabh at 6 likely. Carey is aggressive, Rishabh is aggressive. The game is going to go one or two ways really quick. And I think that will be so important,” said Finch.
