Tamim Iqbal has impressed everyone off the field as much as he did on it. The former Bangladesh captain made his commentary debut last year in the Bangladesh Premier League, but the India vs Bangladesh Test series has been the first time the whole world has heard what the swashbuckling opener has to say. Tamim has outshined his fellow commentators much like he did the other Bangladeshi batters.
As the 2nd Test got delayed due to rain, the chat moved from the players to the coaches. Tamim was asked about his views on India’s new head coach, Gautam Gambhir. It’s not even been three months since Gambhir took over Rahul Dravid. Since then, Team India has a positive 4-2 record across all formats.
Gautam Gambhir the same ‘tough guy’ as India’s head coach?
We know that Gambhir was a competitor and never backed down from a fight during his playing days. Will he be the same as India’s head coach? Tamim isn’t sure. According to him, we’ll only know Gambhir’s true character when Team India starts losing.
“When you’re winning, you don’t know the real character of the man. It’s only when you lose a series, then you lose another, that the real character comes out. No doubt, he is a capable man, but it’s too early. Let India have a bad game, then we will see what comes out,” Tamim said before the match on JioCinema.
