Former Team India head coach heaped high praise on India’s all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja after looking at latter’s mind-boggling record in Rajkot during IND vs ENG 3rd Test.
Jadeja scored a crucial 112 in the first innings of the third Test helping India recover from a shaky start. Jadeja’s phenomenal numbers were displayed on screen when the all-rounder was nearing his century on Day 1.
Shastri, who was on-air, couldn’t believe the numbers and claimed that even the legendary Don Bradman would be impressed by Jadeja’s insane average.
“Look at that average. He (Ravindra Jadeja) could make even Don Bradman look from the above”, Shastri said on commentary.
Ravindra Jadeja’s impressive record at Rajkot
Jadeja averages 135 at the now called Niranjan Shah Stadium. The all-rounder has scored four centuries and five half-centuries in 17 matches at the venue, including a triple century in first-class cricket.
Jadeja came to the crease when India were reeling at 33/3. He along with Indian skipper Rohit Sharma (131) steadied the innings with a 204-run partnership. The all-rounder then formed a crucial partnership with debutant Sarfaraz Khan before the horrible mix-up which led to latter’s dismissal.
The all-rounder added just 2 runs to his overnight score and departed on 112 early on Day 2.
