Ishan Kishan’s absence from the India Cricket Team continues. Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan has expressed his surprise on the matter. Ishan Kishan reportedly is practicing in Baroda, but has decided not to take part in domestic matches. This has prompted Pathan to claim that the entire scenario doesn’t make sense.
Ishan Kishan left the India camp midway during the India Tour of South Africa series. He played just 3 T20I matches before returning home. Reports claim that the young player complained of mental fatigue with travelling and less game time. Earlier, Kishan was a part of India’s ODI World Cup squad and played the first 2 matches during the absence of Shubman Gill.
Since returning home, Ishan Kishan didn’t pick his phone. Despite repeated requests he didn’t play any Ranji Trophy matches. India head coach Rahul Dravid claimed that the player needs to start playing regularly to be in contention for selection.
But nothing doing, Ishan Kishan paid no heed to what he was asked to do. He however has resumed training in Baroda. The southpaw is currently training with Hardik and Krunal Pandya at the Kiran More Academy.
Irfan Pathan took to social media to express his bewilderment. He went on to claim, “Finding it perplexing how someone can be fit enough to practice but not play domestic cricket. How does this even make sense?“
