The BCCI has now come up with a special mandate for the India Cricket Team. As per the new rules, the family of the players can join the tour for just 14 days if the tour extends 45 days or more. However, England Cricket Team captain, Jos Buttler has claimed that family staying with players doesn’t affect cricket.
Perhaps the mind games are at play! A day prior to the IND vs ENG 1st T20I, Three Lions skipper Jos Buttler advocated for family traveling on tours. He claimed that it is extremely important that family travels with the team. He also highlighted how these events have become very important in the post-COVID era.
Family is Important
“Very important to have family on tours. It always helps. As you said, a lot of cricket is being played. And it helps when you have your close ones with you. It doesn’t affect the cricket. Post Covid such things have been highlighted a lot more and personally, it helps,” Jos Buttler said in the Pre-Match Press Conference.
Jos Buttler didn’t mince his words when expressing the importance of family on tours. He also added that their Playing XI is settled but wanted to check up on a few bowlers today at practice. Yesterday, head coach Brendan McCullum said that there would be rotation among the players given the ODI series and ICC Champions Trophy bears more importance.
“We have to build the coach-captain alliance. Of course he is not new and has been around in red ball setup. But good to have him in white ball setup. Settled on the XI just want to see on a couple of bowlers today,” Buttler concluded.
