IND vs ENG Test series: Michael Atherton hits hard at Ollie Robinson for disappointing performance in Ranchi Test

After England’s loss in the IND vs ENG Test series, questions have been raised on the performance of the Three Lions. Former England captain Michael Atherton has criticised Ollie Robinson. The pacer went on to play his maiden match in the series in the IND vs ENG Ranchi Test.

But it wasn’t a happy outcome for Robinson. The pacer failed to grab a solitary wicket. Furthermore, Ben Stokes didn’t give a single over to Ollie Robinson in the second innings as India chased down 192 with 5 wickets to spare. Atherton slammed the pacer claiming his pace was pedestrian.

“Ollie Robinson, I was really disappointed with him in this game. I felt that he bowled, his pace was pedestrian, and he was quite down on pace. Obviously scored that half-century, but dropped a catch. He was not called upon by Stokes on the last day and he looked like a player who has been out of cricket for seven months. He looks like a bowler who needs a good run of game time now, not necessarily with England either,” Atherton said on Sky Cricket Podcast.

Robinson initially was a part of the England Lions squad that played against India A. Prior to that his last international outing came against Australia in the Ashes. But Robinson’s inclusion proved futile as India cruised their way to victory.

Owing to workload management Mark Wood was rested for the IND vs ENG 4th Test. As a result Robinson partnered veteran James Anderson in Ranchi.
