Rohit Sharma tends to forget things, so he may not have remembered his promise to Axar Patel after dropping a catch off his bowling when Axar was on a hat-trick. To jog his memory, Axar playfully reminded him that the promised dinner is still pending.
Axar Patel is still waiting for his dinner
Axar asked Rohit on Twitter to take him to dinner. “Wickets in the bag, win on the board… Rohit Sharma, dinner pending hai,” he wrote on his X handle.
During a match between India and Bangladesh in the Champions Trophy on February 20 in Dubai, Axar Patel was on a hat-trick when the Indian captain dropped a simple catch at first slip. As a result, Axar missed his hat-trick. Realizing his mistake, Rohit later apologized to Axar for the costly error.

The all-rounder would have become the first spinner to claim a hat-trick in ICC events and only the second bowler to achieve the feat in ICC Champions Trophy history. Rohit was questioned about the dropped catch after India’s six-wicket victory. In a lighthearted response, the Rohit Sharma joked that he might take Axar out for dinner on February 21 to make up for his mistake.
“I may take him to dinner tomorrow (on dropped a catch that would’ve given Axar a hat-trick). That was an easy catch. I should have taken that catch, the standards I have set standing in the slips, but these things happen,” Rohit Sharma said after the India vs Bangladesh match.
