Dinesh Karthik in World Cup 2023? RCB dasher set for commentary role in WC

Dinesh Karthik will take part in the marquee tournament in a different role, donning the commentary hat in the upcoming 2023 ODI World Cup.

Veteran keeper-batter Dinesh Karthik shocked the internet fraternity as he confirmed his participation in the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023, which is scheduled to be played in India from October. With Rishabh Pant out of the competition, team India has the options including KL Rahul, Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan for the keeping role.

To note, DK will take part in the marquee tournament in a different role, donning the commentary hat in the upcoming 2023 ODI World Cup. It must be noted that hasn’t played for the Indian cricket team since the 2022 T20 World Cup where he failed to leave an impression with his performance after staging a fairytale comeback in the IPL 2022.

Karthik has already covered two ICC World Test Championship (WTC) finals as a commentator but it will be his first time as a commentator in the World Cup. Currently, Dinesh Karthik is in England for his commentary stint in the ongoing ‘The Hundred’. He recently covered the Ashes 2023 and WTC 2023 Final in the UK.

Talking about wicketkeeping department, Ishan Kishan has emerged as the top contender for the Indian cricket team for the upcoming ODI World Cup. Kishan recently smashed three consecutive half-centuries in as many games against the West Indies. The likes of Sanju Samson and KL Rahul are also in the line for the keeping duties.
