Dinesh Karthik has decided to go out with a bang. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) wicketkeeper batter had announced that he’d leave the sport after the completion of the IPL 2024 season. Before doing so, he decided to leave his mark. Just days ago, he scored a 10-ball 28 against the Punjab Kings and stole the game for RCB.
He’s now created a record that even the likes of MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli may not be able to break. Karthik has become the first cricketer to play 300 T20 matches in a single country. He’s beaten Rohit Sharma, who currently plays 289 matches, while Dhoni, Samit Patel, and Kohli are far behind.

Having played 389 T20 matches in total, more than 70% of the games he’s played have come in India. The batter has played just 60 T20Is for the Indian cricket team, while he has 245 IPL caps to his name as well.
