“Dil toot gaya” – Fans can’t control their emotions after India loses BGT after 10 years, out of WTC Final race

With India now out of the WTC final race after losing the crucial Sydney Test against Australia, take a look at what fans are saying after this disappointing outing for India in recent times.

It’s all over for Indian Test cricket as their current WTC cycle ended on a poor note after losing BGT 2024-25. After beating England 4-1 and Bangladesh 2-0, the disappointing performance, which started against New Zealand at home, continued through the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024. As a result, India was knocked out of the WTC Final contention. The team, which had made it to the last two WTC finals, will now watch as South Africa and Australia compete for the Test mace at Lord’s.

Speaking of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which India lost by a 3-1 margin, we saw two current captains sitting as spectators in the SCG Test with the former captain leading the camp. That’s right—Rohit Sharma opted out of the final Test against Australia at the SCG, and Jasprit Bumrah took over the captaincy. However, on Day 2, Bumrah suffered a back spasm that ruled him out of bowling, although he did come out to bat but couldn’t extend India’s lead.

And since India went on the field to stop the Aussies without Jasprit Bumrah, as a result, India lost the Sydney Test by 6 wickets, thanks to Travis Head and Beau Webster, who led the charge for Australia. With that victory, Australia, as mentioned, is set for another WTC final to face Temba Bavuma’s camp.

Take a look at all the reactions coming on X after India was thumped in the Border-Gavaskar series, which they had held for almost 10 years.
