Mumbai Indians (MI) were forced to part ways with wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan ahead of IPL 2025 auction. The Jharkhand cricketer was picked up by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the mega auction, moving on from MI camp successfully after being associated with the side for many years. MI captain Hardik Pandya opened up on the decision to release Ishan Kishan and admitted that the team knew it would be difficult to buy back the star if he goes under the hammer.

“Ishan has been the ‘freshness’ and the ‘energy’ of the room. When we couldn’t retain him, we always knew that it’s gonna be very difficult to get him back from the auction simply because we knew that, the kind of player and kind of skillset he brings. He always used to be keep the dressing room light, has made a lot of people smile,” said Hardik Pandya.
