Shubman Gill is India Cricket Team’s number number 3 Test batsman. However, he is the designated opener in ODIs and T20Is. But in the Test setup, Yashasvi Jaiswal is now the opener while Gill moves down to number 3. Gill failed to score runs in a flurry. But now after hammering a ton, he has claimed that he hasn’t made any changes in his technical approach while batting at his new position.
Shubman Gill hammered a ton in the Vizag Test to save his place in the team. Though he was dismissed for a duck in the first innings of Rajkot Test, he went on to score big runs in the second innings. He narrowly missed out on a century after being dismissed on 91.
“I have played at no.3 for India A and in Ranji in the past. Wasn’t something new. I didn’t make any technical changes as an opener you set the tone and don’t get time to think but in middle-order it’s more about playing as per situation,” said Shubman Gill at the pre match Press Conference.
Owing to some injuries and players missing, India have given chances to quite a few new comers in the team. Owing to workload management, Jasprit Bumrah has been rested for the IND vs ENG Ranchi Test. In his absence, Mohammed Siraj will spearhead the pace attack.
“Bumrah has been leader of our attack but the way Mohammed Siraj picked those four wickets was very heartening. Our fast bowling has been really good and the difference,” Gill concluded.
