The Perth Test saw a confrontation between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Mitchell Starc. Stump mics picked up the young Indian batter sledging the ace pacer claiming “You are bowling slow”. But now on the eve of the IND vs AUS Pink Ball Adelaide Test, Mitchell Starc claimed that he hasn’t heard Yashasvi saying that.
Starc went on to explain that nowadays he doesn’t pay much attention to what others say on the field. Starc claimed that he is now at such a phase in his career that he continues on without being much bothered. The incident happened when Yashasvi hit back at Starc claiming he was bowling slow after the Aussie pacer clocked 141 kph.
Mitchell Starc claims he doesn’t pay much heed
“I didn’t actually hear him say I bowled too slow. I don’t say too much to people these days. I may have been back in the day, but now I just sort of get on with it. Played that flick shot and I think I bowled pretty much the same ball, and he defended it. I said where the flick shot is, and he laughed at me, and we just left it at that,” Starc said in an interaction with cricket.com.au.
With all that being said and done, Mitchell Starc however heaped praises for Yashasvi Jaiswal. He claimed that the youngster played really well in the second innings of the Perth Test. After being dispatched for a duck, Jaiswal went on to hit back and score a sensational 161-run knock in Perth.
“He’ll play a lot of cricket for India and be highly successful. Certainly, he played really, really well in that second innings. He adapted to conditions through that first Test. We got him cheaply in the first innings and he adapted to that and played a fantastic innings, so full credit to him. He is one of those new crop of fearless young cricketers around the world,” Starc concluded.
