The BCCI announced the central contracts for the players on Wednesday, and of course, the talking points were the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Dhruv Jurel, who with their solid performances landed their first contracts with the board. Then there were Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, and Mohammed Siraj who got promoted to Grade A.
But one player who still didn’t make it to Grade A was chinaman bowler, Kuldeep Yadav. Even though he got a promotion from Grade C, to Grade B, still his exploits over the last one year weren’t enough to put him in the top flight of Indian cricketers.
Kuldeep Yadav’s Record Across Formats
It one speaks about numbers, Kuldeep is perhaps one of the best in world, at the moment. In 2023, he played 9 T20Is, and picked up 14 wickets in them, at an average of 13.14. What was even more remarkable was his economy of 5.96 only. In Tests, although he did not play any in 2023, but has been excellent in the limited last few opportunities that have come his way.
In 2022, he played a solitary Test, and picked up eight wickets, including a fifer. Whereas in 2024, he has appeared in three IND vs ENG Tests already. In that he has bagged 12 wickets. Lastly, in ODIs, in a massive 30 matches, he bagged 49 wickets, at an average of 20.48.
This truly shows that Kuldeep is a multi-format player, someone who should have been rewarded with a Grade A contract.
