Did KL Rahul hint, LSG’s performance dipped after spat with owner Sanjiv Goenka?

IPL 2025: KL Rahul was associated with LSG from their first season itself, and had managed to take the team to two playoffs.

There are some events from the IPL that are always etched in the fans’ memories. One of the happened in IPL 2024, where after the LSG vs SRH match, Lucknow owner Sanjiv Goenka had a public outburst at skipper KL Rahul. While many only thought, that could have affected the team’s morale, there was no confirmed news for the same.

But speaking on StarSports show ‘KL Rahul Unplugged‘, the keeper-batter hinted that “all the outside drama” did affect the team’s performance. He said, “The 2024 IPL season did not end as well as I would have wanted. We started off really well, but that’s how IPL is. At the halfway stage you cannot think that you’ll cruise into the playoffs.

“There is always ups and downs, and you need to be able to hold your nerves. All the travel, all the drama outside, the pressure, it is there every year. But this time it felt like there was a lot more. That affected the team, we couldn’t put in the performances when it really mattered.”

IPL Auction 2025

If one goes back to that LSG vs SRH match, Lucknow team managed to score 165 runs, while Hyderabad managed to chase down the target in only 9.4 overs. What was surprising in the match is, KL Rahul could only score 29 from 33 deliveries. Having said that, he had an excellent season with the bat overall, where he ended up scoring 520 runs in 14 matches, at an average of 37.

Now, having entered the IPL Auction 2025, there are rumours that RCB will go all out for him, to get him back after 2016. That year was also great for Rahul, where he scored 397 runs, and was instrumental in taking his team to the final.
