Babar replaced Shaeen Afridi as the skipper just before the T20 World Cup, with the latter being stripped off captaincy after leading the team in just one series. Now, a Pakistan media house has levelled a serious allegation against the batter, accusing him of back-stabbing Shaheen.
Did Babar Azam plot Shaheen Afridi’s removal as skipper?
A Saamna TV journalist claimed that Babar Azam and Shaheen had a chat about captaincy during the team’s training camp at the Army base in Kakul. The journalist claimed that the batter had assure the pacer that he had no ambitions of being skipper despite knowing that he was going to be named captain. He added that a member of the team management decided to keep Shaheen in the dark about the developments.
However, the journalist did a back-flip towards the end of the show, claiming that Babar might not have been aware of the backdoor dealings.
