Despite repeated failures in Tests, Rohit Sharma makes it to Aussie “endorsed” World XI

Rohit Sharma has just fifty-plus innings in the last four Tests he has played, and was one of the factors in India losing series vs NZ.

India skipper Rohit Sharma has been going through a horrid patch of form in Tests and has had poor returns in the ongoing IND vs NZ Test series, that the hosts have already lost. Yet, there is no doubt in India, or across the world, that he is still the best in the business. While there will be a few who wouldn’t agree with it, but then what choice is left, when even the Australian players endorse him name.

Talking on a video by Fox, the likes of Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Josh Hazlewood and Steve Smith praised Rohit Sharma, and included him in the World Test XI. Smith went on to mention how Rohit’s attacking ability made him a nightmare for the bowlers. “He is so dangerous, takes the game on with the new ball,” Smith said. “He plays his shots but also has solid defence when the situation demands it. He puts the bowler under a lot of pressure.”

Rohit Sharma’s Poor Returns in IND vs NZ

Having said that, it has been nothing short of a struggle for Rohit in the ongoing IND vs NZ series. His last 8 innings in Tests read — 6, 5, 23, 8, 2, 52, 0, 8. He His failure also meant India lost their first series on home soil after a gap of 12 years. Now, the team gears up for IND vs AUS series Down Under, starting from November 22 in Perth.

No Mohammed Shami

But the trouble will only mount for the Indians as Mohammed Shami has been left out from the IND vs AUS squad. He has still not recovered from his ankle surgery, and has also been diagnosed with swelling on his knee during rehab. In fact, Kuldeep Yadav was also excluded from the long tour.
