In what has come as a massive development, KL Rahul is set to kickstart his Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 campaign very soon. Well, according to reports, the newly made father will turn up for the Delhi Capitals (DC) in their very next match, i.e., against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on March 30, Sunday.
KL Rahul missed DC’s first IPL 2025 match
Delhi Capitals opened their IPL 2025 campaign with a come-from-behind victory over the Lucknow Super Giants, KL Rahul’s former team. Quite fascinatingly, Rahul was blessed with a baby girl on the very same day. Expectedly, he missed the opening game that saw Ashutosh Sharma hit a mind boggling 66* off 31.
Now, as per a Times of India journalist, KL Rahul is all set to make his comeback, first time as a father. DC’s next game is a tricky one against SRH. That game will also be played in Vizag, where DC beat LSG.
KL Rahul was snapped up by the Delhi Capitals for a whopping ₹14 crore, essentially as a replacement for Rishabh Pant, who was picked up by the Lucknow Super Giants. Interestingly, Rahul had declined the captaincy role at DC, paving the way for Axar Patel to take the reins.
This development came after Rahul’s surprise release from LSG, despite a stellar IPL 2024 season where he scored 520 runs in 14 matches. Rumors suggest that Rahul’s departure from LSG was fueled by a public spat with team owner Sanjiv Goenka following a crushing loss to SRH.
