After the success of IPL Auction, the focus has shifted to the WPL 2025 Auction, that will be held in Bengaluru on December 15, with 120 players ready to go under the hammer. DC women, as the two-time finalists in the WPL don’t really have much to look forward to, having retained their core players, but then after letting Poonam Yadav go, they would be looking for a spinner for sure.
Out of all the teams, they have the least purse left — 2.5 Cr, that only shows how much trust they have in the current bunch, and Meg Lanning & Co. don’t need to tinker much. All their focus should instead be on — how to win the WPL final.

DC Released Players Before WPL Auction
The only notable release is that of leg-spinner Poonam Yadav, who was poor in WPL 2023. In the three matches that she played, she did not pick up any wicket. This year, she did not get a game, and hence was let go. Otherwise, Laura Harris, Ashwani Kumar and Aparna Mondal also missed the cut.
Released Players: Poonam Yadav, Laura Harris*, Ashwani Kumari, Aparna Mondal.
Purse Left for WPL Auction
A purse of 2.5 Cr, and DC won’t have much demands going into the WPL Auction. Among foreign players they have the option of bagging Deandra Dottin, Nadine De Klerk, and Alana King. While the likes of Heather Graham and Heather Knight are in the Auction too, the team doesn’t need them and might not be able to afford them too. Then there is a certain Sneh Rana too, who could be on the radar.
