Delhi Capitals’ newly appointed captain, Axar Patel, has joined the team’s camp ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Axar, fondly known as “Bapu,” arrived in style, stepping out of a car to a grand welcome. He was named DC’s captain for the upcoming season after being retained by the franchise before the IPL 2025 auction.
He joined the camp after his successful campaign with Team India in the Champions Trophy 2025, where he took five wickets.

He captained Delhi once. Last season, Axar served as the team’s vice-captain and stepped in for a single match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru when Rishabh Pant was suspended. DC suffered a 47-run defeat in that game, with Axar delivering figures of 0-24 and scoring 57 runs off 39 balls.
