Delhi Capitals on Friday achieved a much-needed win over Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. The Rishabh Pant-led team was the dominant side in the game, easily winning the tie with 11 balls to spare. Former Australian wicketkeeper-batter Adam Gilchrist hailed DC for their performance and said the win bought DC three days of happiness.
As it happened
LSG were chasing the game throughout the tie as DC kept a tight leash after losing the toss and being sent to bowl first. Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel kept the run rate down as wickets in regular intervals meant LSG were unable to accelerate. Chasing a target of 168, Prithvi Shaw gave DC a good start with his 32 off 22 balls. Jack Fraser came in to score a crucial half-century with Rishabh Pant (41 of 24) getting into the groove as well.
Gilchrist impressed by DC display
Speaking on Cricbuzz after the match, Gilchrist said DC are just one win away from the top 4 spot.

“All of a sudden, DC are one win away from being in that top 4 position. Their batting had a lot of positives. They did it with ease. There are areas that they would continue to improve. But they got the job done. I always say, in the IPL, a win buys you three days of happiness, until the next game. Tonight, they sit and celebrate that victory. And that filters right throughout the franchise. Then in three days’ time, the nerves come into play once again,” Gilchrist said.
