Deepti Sharma leads London Spirit to The Hundred title in typical MS Dhoni style with last ball six

Deepti Sharma hammered a six off her final delivery to help London Spirit defeat Welsh Fire by four wickets and win The Hundred

All-rounder Deepti Sharma channelised her inner MS Dhoni as she smashed a six off to help the London Spirit women win The Hundred title. Needing four runs off three balls, the southpaw had a heart in the mouth moment after launching the big hit as it barely managed to clear the ropes. London Spirits defeated Welsh Fire women by 4 wickets, with Deepti remaining unbeaten on 16.

Deepti Sharma seals The Hundred win for London Spirit with a six

Batting first in the contest, the Welsh Fire managed to put up 115 runs on board in hundred deliveries. The side witnessed a top-order collapse, as Tara Norris drew the first blood by getting rid of Dunkley. It was then Sarah Glenn and Eva Gray’s turn to wreak havoc on the batting order as they finished the innings with two wickets each.

Jonnassen was the top scorer for Welsh Fire, playing the role of a lone warrior with a 54-run knock. Deepti Sharma also managed to get a wicket as she got rid of Elwiss with a caught and bowled.

London Spirits lost Meg Lanning quite early in the run-chase, with Shabnim Ismail striking in the 12th delivery. Wicketkeeper-batter Georgia Redmayne (34), who was named the Player of the Match, then steadied the ship for the side while batters continued to walk in and out on the other side.

The match went down to the wire with Deepti Sharma at the crease and four runs needed in three balls. In a typical MS Dhoni fashion, Deepti launched a six off her final delivery to get her team across the line.

Absolutely stoked with Deepti, she has been brilliant with both bat and ball,” London Spirits captain Heather Knight said after winning The Hundred.
