Deepti Sharma appointed as DSP, receives Rs 3 Crore reward from UP government

Deepti was appointed DSP after she won the gold medal at the Asian Games 2023.

India women’s team ace all-rounder Deepti Sharma has been appointed as the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) by the Uttar Pradesh (UP) government. The No. 1 Indian all-rounder was honored after she, along with the Women in Blue, claimed the gold medal at the Asian Games 2023.

Deepti, who hails from Agra, is one of the world’s leading cricketers. Currently, she’s ranked the 6th best all-rounder in the ICC ODI rankings and 4th in the ICC T20I rankings.

The 26-year-old cricketer has been playing for the national side for a decade and has delivered several stellar performances throughout her career. Deepti Sharma was felicitated by UP’s chief minister, Yogi Adityanath, and received a cash prize of Rs 3 crore.

Deepti has several accolades to her name in international cricket. In Test cricket, she has the most economical 5-wicket haul and holds the record for having the best strike rate in an innings.

In ODIs, she holds the record for the highest score by an Indian (188) and the second-highest of all time. Her 320-run stand with Punam Raut is the highest-ever recorded partnership in 50-over cricket.
