Pacer Deepak Chahar has made his return to the T20I team after more than a year. Chahar has been named in the playing XI in the fourth T20I match between India and Australia that is being played in Raipur on 1st December 2023.
Deepak Chahar was originally not part of the squad. The 31-year old was added to the squad ahead of the 3rd T20I in Guwahati on Tuesday. He was called as a back-up to Mukesh Kumar, who missed the match due to his marriage.
While Deepak Chahar did not feature in the playing XI in the third T20I, he has now replaced Arshdeep Singh in the 4th T20I. The Rajasthan pacer last represented India in a T20I match way back in October 2022.
He was part of the side during the 3rd T20I against South Africa that was played in Indore. He was then overlooked for the 2022 T20 World Cup. Subsequently did not feature in any of India’s T20I squads since then.
Deepak Chahar has now made his comeback to the Indian team on the back of good performances in the Syed Mushtaq Ali and Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Playing for Rajasthan, he picked up 10 wickets from 5 matches in SMAT 2023. He followed it up with a six-wicket haul in the Vijay Hazare Trophy against Gujarat much recently.
