Deepak Chahar Injury Update: India all-rounder Deepak Chahar is still not ‘100% fit’ despite featuring in recent Indian Premier League 2023 (IPL 2023) matches for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). With World Cup 2023 and Asia Cup 2023 inching closer, Chahar would like to fancy his chances to make a way in the already injury-stricken Team India. But in between this dream to play in WC, his own injury can hamper his chances.

Deepak Chahar acknowledged on Wednesday that he is still not fully healed from the hamstring ailment that kept him out of the IPL 2023 for over a month. Chahar played in two games before suffering a left hamstring injury on April 8 against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. Chahar missed the season’s opening match against Gujarat Titans too.

Deepak Chahar: Timeline of Recent Injury

In MI vs CSK, Deepak Chahar left the field after bowling just one over. On May 3, Chahar made his comeback in the rain-affected game against the Lucknow Super Giants, where he gave up 41 runs without taking a wicket.

Chahar, though, picked up two wickets, including that of MI skipper Rohit Sharma, and was a crucial part of CSK’s victory over Mumbai Indians at home earlier in the month.

He then on Wednesday, bagged two crucial wickets of David Warner and Phil Salt in CSK’s victory over Delhi Capitals (DC).

“It is very difficult with injuries, every time you get injured you start from zero. Still not 100% but trying to do a job to contribute to the team,” emotional Chahar said after the match.

Chahar has experienced a number of injuries in the past 18 months. After being acquired for the staggering sum of Rs 14 crore in the mega auction, he was unable to play the entire IPL 2022 season and also missed out on the 2022 T20 World Cup for India.

CSK win against DC

Chennai Super Kings defeated Delhi Capitals in Match 55 of the IPL 2023 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, earning them their second consecutive victory and seventh victory overall.

CSK scored a respectable 167/8 thanks to a series of cameos from its middle and lower middle-order hitters, headed by MS Dhoni’s 9-ball 20. The home team choked and kept a stranglehold on the DC hitters thanks to a disciplined bowling effort headed by the outstanding Matheesha Pathirana (3/37). DC were limited to 140/8 and CSK won the game by 27 runs.
