Indian pace bowler Deepak Chahar has decided to follow in former Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s footsteps and launch his own sports line, DNINE Sports.
Virat Kohli is often considered a pioneer among Indian sportspeople when it comes to investing in sports brands. Kohli started his very own venture in 2012, when he launched his brand ‘One8’
Now, Chahar has taken the Kohli route after announcing that his sports brand will be involved in the retail sale of cricket shoes, clothing, and accessories, among others.
While talking with Mint, Chahar announced that the company will have him and his father, Lokendra Singh Chahar, as co-founders.

Chahar also informed that the company is not looking for any investments and aims to become the go-to brand for athletic shoes in the next couple of years. Chahar also disclosed that shoes and other accessories will be made through contract manufacturers in Rishikesh and Dehradun.
DNINE Sports will also be involved in the retail sale of health supplements via a third-party company, Weolive.
“The idea was to create affordable products for young and upcoming athletes. A lot of young cricketers cannot afford to spend on good quality products and that can impact their game and even cause injuries,” said Deepak Chahar.
Chahar said that the brand also sponsored some first-class cricketers and IPL players in the recently concluded season and plans to expand their portfolio in the upcoming season.
In February, Chahar and his wife, Jaya Chahar, launched their own fantasy sports app, Trade Fantasy Game (TFC) , after setting up their own tech venture, JCDC Sports Private Limited.
Chahar’s wife, Jaya, has said that TFC has about 70,000 organic subscribers and that the couple has set aside ₹5 crores for this endeavor.
