Currently the total IPL prize pool of Rs 46.5 Cr is still the highest among all franchise tournaments. Initially the first two seasons of the IPL saw 7.2 crores in money being kept as the IPL final prize money. The winning teams received Rs 4.8 crore, while the runners-up were awarded Rs 2.4 crore. However since 2010 the amount of the prize money saw an increase of 7.8 crores and with that the prize money of the winner and runners up also doubled.
The only time that deduction in prize money took place was in 2020 due to global pandemic. The reduction in Prize money happened for the first time in more than a decade of IPL history.
