DC vs SRH Live: Despite missing out on a well-deserved century, David Warner showed why he is a real team man while playing for Delhi Capitals against Sunrisers Hyderabad Thursday. The Australian opener was stranded on 92 in the last over of the innings and being at the non-strikers end, he didn’t even bother about reaching the milestone as he allowed his partner to play big shots to help the team post 207 on the board. Playing against his former franchise, Warner played a brilliant knock as he scored a 34-ball fifty to help Delhi Capitals post a big total. Warner was on 92 when the last over began. He was at the non-strikers end with the team’s score at 188/3.
Umran Malik came into bowl the over and Powell thrashed a big six over long off on the very first ball. Warner was ecstatic as soon as the shot was hit and encouraged his partner to go on. Powell then went on to smash three more boundaries in the over and took a single in the last ball as 17 were scored in the over, to help Delhi post 207.
Warner was enjoying every shot that was played and he appeared as a man who didn’t even care about his personal milestone as he walked back eight runs short of a century.
Speaking after the innings, Rovman Powell said, it was Warner who wanted him to score big in the final over. “I was trying my best. I wanted him to get to a hundred, but he asked me to hit as hard as I could, and wasn’t bothered about his own hundred.”
Warner’s 92 is so far his best score in the ongoing season. With the knock, he also created a T20 record. This was his 89th fifty in T20s, which is the most number of half-centuries by a batsman in the history of T20 cricket.
