Delhi Capitals secured a thrilling last-over win against Lucknow Super Giants in their IPL 2025 clash in Visakhapatnam. Chasing a target of 210, Delhi had a disastrous start, losing three wickets within the first two overs. In fact, they lost five wickets for under 70 runs before Ashutosh Sharma turned the game around with a match-winning knock, smashing 66 runs off 31 balls. Youngster Vipraj Nigam also made a vital contribution, scoring a quickfire 39 off just 15 deliveries. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, Delhi successfully chased down the target with three balls to spare.
Earlier, Lucknow Super Giants posted a formidable total of 209/8, courtesy of explosive innings from Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh. Pooran hammered 75 runs off 30 balls, while Marsh scored 72 off 36 deliveries.
Delhi’s bowlers, especially in the death overs, put up an impressive performance. Kuldeep Yadav picked up two wickets for 20 runs, while Mitchell Starc claimed three wickets but proved expensive.
For Lucknow, Shardul Thakur provided a dream start, dismissing Jake Fraser-McGurk and Abishek Porel in his first over. However, Ashutosh Sharma’s blistering knock guided Delhi to victory.
