But MS Dhoni takes away the headlines after coming to bat for the first time in IPL 2024.
Mahi Way
CSK might have lost the encounter, but the biggest highlight of the game was MS Dhoni doing MS Dhoni stuff. The former CSK captain walked out to bat for the very first time in IPL 2024. The Vizag crowd greeted Thala with a rousing reception as MS Dhoni walked on to the crease to bat.
Dhoni put up a brilliant show with his bat which ultimately fell short. However, the star began his innings with a pull shot which went for a four. Ultimately, he remained not out on 37 from 16 balls, hitting 4 four and 3 gigantic sixes.
Prithvi Shaw gives Perfect Reply after snub
Talk about having a mark. Prithvi Shaw was snubbed in the first 2 matches. But after having got his chance, the opener showcased his deft touch with the bat. Shaw opened the batting for Delhi Capitals and he gave his side a very good start with fellow opener David Warner.
Prithvi Shaw albeit missed his fifty, but his knock was splendid. The Delhi opener hammered a 27-ball 43 run knock. The right handed batter went on to slam 4 fours and 2 sixes striking the ball at a rate close to 160. It is worth noting that this knock from Shaw will be a big boost for the player. Shaw will be keen to produce more such knocks in the coming games.
David Warner smashes IPL milestone record in style
David Warner became the first overseas batsmen in the history of the Indian Premier League to register 6500 runs. While coming into bat, the Australian opener needed just 21 runs to smash the milestone. But Warner had other ideas on his mind. He slammed a fine fifty to set the pace for the Delhi Capitals.
Warner slammed 5 fours and 3 sixes to reach his fifty in style. Interestingly, David Warner is 3rd in the list of Most runs scored in the history of the tournament. Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan occupies the top 2 spots.
Rishabh Pant goes Hammer and Tongs
Rishabh Pant is no longer rusty. The Delhi Capitals skipper returned to form with a bang. The destructive southpaw went on to hammer a scintillating fifty against Chennai Super Kings. Pant went on to slam 4 fours and 3 sixes. And who can forget his trademark one handed six shot.
Fans patiently waited for Pant to shine brightly with the bat, since his comeback to cricket. And DC fans weren’t disappointed with their captain’s outings. Furthermore, with his blistering knock of 51 from 32 balls, Pant has thrown his name in the mixes for a spot in Team India’s squad for ICC T20 World Cup.
