Delhi Capitals (Playing XI): Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant(w/c), Marcus Stoinis, Shimron Hetmyer, Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada, Avesh Khan, Anrich Nortje

DC Playing XI vs KKR: Delhi Capitals stuck with most of their team throughout the season, having found a set combination. Last year’s finalists have a set top four with Shreyas Iyer’s return, while Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw continue to reign supreme at the top.  Shimron Hetmyer has chipped in with valuable contributions lower down the order. Marcus Stoinis hasn’t featured in the last six games for Delhi, but Pant hopes to have the Australian available for the Qualifier 2.

His replacement, Tom Curran chipped in with a three-wicket haul against Chennai Super Kings, and will feature should Stoinis be out of the team. However, picking the Englishman severely hampers DC’s batting depth, which cost them last time out. Should Stoinis be ruled out, Lalit Yadav and Ripal Patel are other all-rounder options, while Steve Smith and Sam Billings are available as pure batsmen.

  • Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw are settled opening pair at the top of the order.
  • Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant and Shimron Hetmyer make up the middle order, and all have been amongst the runs in recent times.
  • Stoinis is key to DC’s balance and Rishabh Pant will likely opt for him if the Australian is fit
  • Tom Curran, Lalit Yadav and Ripal Patel are other available all-round options.
  • Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje will lead the pace attack, with under-fire Avesh Khan for support.
  • Axar Patel and Ravi Ashwin will take up spin bowling duties.

DC Playing XI vs KKR:

DC vs KKR – Qualifier 2: Openers – Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan have been one of the most successful opening partnerships in the IPL 2021, and while Shaw’s returns have diminished in Phase 2, Dhawan has continued to go strong and is in contention for the Orange Cap.  The Capitals would hope that the duo can get them off to a good start in Dubai on Sunday.

Middle-order: Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant complement each other well at No.3 and No.4, and have more often than not delivered for the side. Shimron Hetmyer has performed in the finisher’s role ably, with Axar Patel and Shimron Hetmyer could provide much more support to the left-handed West Indian.

Pacers: South African duo Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada have continued from where they left off last season, but it is the rise of Avesh Khan that has truly helped the Delhi Capitals this season. Khan has struggled in the last two games, and the 23-year-old will hope for redemption in a do-or-die game vs KKR.

DC vs CSK Qualifier 1 – Spinners: Ravichandran Ashwin will be the leader of the pack as he goes up against former team CSK. Ashwin will be complemented by Axar Patel, who has been in sublime form in Phase 2. The duo will look to stifle the CSK batting order and get as many wickets as they can, with the IPL proving to be match practice for the T20  World Cup. Ashwin will be key with KKR having a bunch of left-handers in the top order.

DC Playing XI vs KKR: Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant (c & wk), Shreyas Iyer, Shimron Hetmyer, Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada, Tom Curran/M Stoinis, Avesh Khan, Anrich Nortje
