DC captain Rishabh Pant wary of Harry Brook’s absence, says ‘setbacks are part of life’

Delhi Capitals will kickstart their IPL 2024 campaign on March 23 against Punjab Kings at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Cricket Stadium.

Rishabh Pant is poised to make his cricket comeback as Delhi Capitals prepare for IPL 2024. The DC captain faced a life-threatening car accident in December 2022, which kept him sidelined for 14 months. However, there’s finally hope for Pant as he received medical clearance from the NCA on March 12.

After undergoing surgery on three ligaments in his right knee and addressing other injuries, Pant underwent extensive rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Despite his challenges, Pant joined head coach Ricky Ponting during the IPL 2024 mini-auction. Ahead of the season opener against Punjab Kings, Pant shared insights into the team’s depth and injuries.

“I’m very pleased with the squad because in the mini auction, you can’t do much about it. Whatever goal you have, you have to figure out a way to make it work in a better way. That’s the only thing you can do with limited options. And I think some of the options we had in the middle order were amazing. “ said Rishabh during a chat with Club Praire Fire.

“But there might be some bad news that we are just trying to confirm whether it’s true or false, communicating with the players. I feel some players might not come, that could be a setback, but setbacks are part of life. Then we will move on and explore new strategies. But I’m really excited to be back.” he added.

Harry Brook set to miss the season for Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals

The biggest setback DC faced ahead of the IPL 2024 is England batsman Harry Brook opting to skip the forthcoming season of the Indian Premier League 2024 due to personal reasons. The Delhi Capitals spent INR 4 crore to sign the English batter after Sunrisers Hyderabad dropped him after one season.

Delhi Capitals are now looking for an acceptable replacement for Brook since his absence would impact their plans for the forthcoming season. They made a significant investment on the English batter to strengthen the middle order, which was lacking in their previous season.
