Cricket South Africa (CSA), according to ESPNcricinfo, is not currently aware of the situation. Later this month, the board will announce the national women’s contracts. After finishing as runners-up in the domestic ICC Women’s T20 World Cup this year, CSA has officially announced Sune Luus as the team’s permanent skipper.
Her controversial exclusion from the T20 WC team for failing the fitness test by 18 seconds was followed by a month and a half before her decision of retirement. In her absence, Luus led the team and guided them to the title game, where they fell to Australia.
In September 2021, she played her final match of international cricket before being sidelined due to a broken ankle. This year’s home T20I series against the West Indies and India was when she was supposed to make her comeback, but it was postponed after she didn’t match the fitness standards set by head coach Hilton Moreeng.
In 107 one-day internationals for South Africa, Van Niekerk has scored 2175 runs at an average of 36.25, including one hundred and nine fifties and has claimed 138 wickets. She played 86 T20I games, taking 65 wickets at an economy rate of 5.45 while scoring 1877 runs at a strike rate of 94.94 with 10 fifty-plus scores. In November 2014, she participated in a Test match in Mysore against India.
