India boasts of a strong team that has World No.7 PV Sindhu, World No.9 Lakshya Sen and 11th ranked Kidambi Srikanth in its ranks in singles. Apart from that the men’s double pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty as well as women’s doubles duo Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand. All these players make this team a strong contender for the medal.
Meanwhile, Australia have a big squad as they have three men’s singles players in Nathan Tang, Jacob Schueler and Xiang Lin. 326th ranked Nathan Tang played in the men’s singles against Sri Lanka in their first round and out of the three players, Schueler has a higher ranking as he is 268th in the world. In the mixed team event, each tie will consist of five matches with one match each in Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed doubles will be played. Even if a team wins the first three matches and clinches the tie, all the five games will have to be played in the group stage.
