The hybrid model is going to be used this time for the ICC Champions Trophy. Initially, the games that were fully scheduled to take place in Pakistan will now see some of the matches at Dubai International Stadium. The India cricket team, which had stated they would not travel to Pakistan due to security concerns, will play all their matches here.
Although the path to the hybrid model was not easy, as Pakistan was reluctant to host the full games at their chosen venue, after several ICC meetings, it was the BCCI’s wishes that were fulfilled, but with several conditions pushed by the PCB. Since India is set to play all their matches at this venue, do you know how many matches they will play, and will they play their knockout games as well if they qualify? Take a look in detail.
How many Champions Trophy matches will Dubai host?
For Dubai International Stadium, there will be three league matches and Semi-final 1, meaning a total of 4 games are confirmed. India will play all their league matches at this ground, and if they manage to qualify for the semi-final, the same ground will host the semi-final. As for the final, it will only be held in Dubai if India qualifies, otherwise, it will take place at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
