CSK wins IPL Finals: Faf du Plessis has been a staple with the Chennai Super Kings over the years and the South African has repaid the faith with some great consistency over the years. On Friday, the 37-year-old scored a stellar 86 in the IPL 2021 final, helping his team post 192 on the board, which eventually proved to be too much for KKR. Incidentally, it was Du Plessis’ 100th IPL game, and the former South African captain expressed his gratitude in what was indeed a special day for him.

Speaking during the post-match presentation, Faf du Plessis said, “That was a great day. I am really grateful for today. It was also my 100th game in the IPL. I have loved my time here. I have done almost ten years here – two seasons were a bit of a break. No. 4 in the trophy cabinet is really good.”

Du Plessis finished just two runs shy of the Orange Cap, finishing second to opening partner Ruturaj Gaikwad. The South African lavished praise on his partner and believes that the 24-year-old has a long career ahead. He said, “Ruturaj Gaikwad is a special talent. Indian cricket is blessed with talent. He is getting better. He’s got a super, bright future ahead of him. I have a word with him, but I don’t think he needs me.”
Faf du Plessis also shared a special record with Gaikwad as the duo added 750+ runs in IPL 2021. It speaks volumes about their contributions as CSK completed a dramatic turn to enter the finals after a forgetful season in UAE last year.
