As RCB’s Virat Kohli was slowly starting to get into the groove in the IPL 2024 opener against CSK, the combined on-field brilliance of Ajinkya Rahane and Rachin Ravindra meant, the batsman’s innings came to a premature end. Batting on 21, Kohli looked to put away a bouncer from Mstafizur Rahman, but was miraculously caught, tantalisingly close to the boundary.
The dismissal happened on the second ball of the 11th over, when Kohli couldn’t find enough power on the pull shot. A running Ajinkya Rahane made a stupendous effort to get to the ball and relay it to Rachin, who completed the catch. Such was their effort, that after the wicket, the was disbelief on the duo’s faces.
RCB’s Batting Crumbles as Virat Kohli Departs
Chennai had a wonderful start to their IPL campaign this season, as their bowlers kept getting wickets at regular intervals. The first to get out was RCB skipper Faf du Plessis, who scored 35 from 23 balls. Then Rajat Patidar and Glenn Maxwell, both were out for ducks. Meanwhile, it was Mustafizur who wreaked havoc with a brilliant spell of 4/7 in 2 overs only.
