To note, the UP-based franchise opted to go with Kyle Mayers as an opening partner alongside KL Rahul. While Rahul failed to get going, Mayers capitalized on the opportunity and stroked an excellent fifty with the bat on a tricky pitch. His efforts with the bat meant that LSG posted an above par score on the board and later on defend it easily.
Meanwhile, the senior batter Quinton de Kock is expected to mark his presence LSG’s before the encounter against CSK. With De Kock being available, it remains to be seen if Lucknow will tinker with their opening order. It must be noted that both De Kock and Rahul were formidable opening duo in the previous edition and were one of the reasons for their success in the competition.

“It was a tricky surface at the start. Kept a bit low, was skidding a bit. Bounce was variable. Our bowlers need to use the pitch more. There’s an area where it’s very dry. Spinners need to use that end particularly. It’s a new surface. Tried getting some info from the guys but no one has played on it. Always good to get some luck. Just wanted to do well in my first game, help the team,” Mayers said after the DC match.
