CSK vs GT: MS Dhoni meets Gary Kirsten as 2011 World Cup winning duo reunite

Kirsten had coached India for three years (2008–2011), and after the Men in Blue secured the prestigious World Cup trophy, he decided to part ways with the team.

The architects of India’s ODI World Cup 2011 title run, MS Dhoni and Gary Kirsten, have reunited. The captain-coach dream duo had helped the India cricket team to a 2nd World Cup title after a long wait of 28 years. Their paths may have diverged over time, but their respect and camaraderie remain the same. The two giants of the game crossed paths ahead of the Chennai Super Kings vs Gujarat Titans on March 26.

The reputed South African coach is considered to be among the best in the business and is currently working with GT as their batting coach. Meanwhile, MS Dhoni continues to be associated with CSK, having decided to step down as the franchise’s captain just four days ago.

13 years after that memorable win, Kirsten and Dhoni will be present at the same ground, albeit in different capacities. The batting coach will look to impart all the knowledge he has on the wicketkeeper batter to his side and hope they come out on top.
