CSK vs GT: A fit & firing Shivam Dube isn’t just Chennai’s need, but Team India’s as well

CSK vs GT: As an impact sub in the first match against RCB, Shivam Dube played a winning-hand of 34 from 28 balls.

This IPL 2024 is important for the Indian players, for one reason. Strong performances during the tournament would not only help their respective teams do well, but it could also mean, that the players book their T20 World Cup berths for Team India. One of that players is CSK all-rounder Shivam Dube, for sure.

As Chennai takes on Gujarat Titans on Tuesday, all eyes will be on the hard-hitting batsman, who scored a match-winning 34 from 28 balls in the first match against RCB on Friday. The man has been in superlative form for quite some time now with the bat, be it during the IND vs AFG series, where he scored two fifties, or the Ranji Trophy after that. His form augurs well for Team India.

Shivam Dube, a probable Hardik Pandya Backup

While a fit Hardik Pandya looks certain to make the cut, if Dube goes his form going in the IPL, then he could be in the team as well, for his batting and fast bowling abilities. So far, in the 52 matches Dube has played in the league, he has scored 1140 runs at an average of 29, and picked up wickets with that as well.

Since Pandya is making a comeback of sorts, and is injury prone, it is an absolute necessity for Team India to have someone of the caliber of Dube, who can not only score runs, but also bowl a full quota of overs. In the 21 T20Is for India, he has picked up eight wickets already.
