CSK Playing XI vs GT, IPL 2024: Matheesha Pathirana replace Maheesh Theekshana as Chennai Super Kings face Gujarat Titans

Chennai Super Kings are ready for their second game of IPL 2024. After a win in their opening game against RCB, it is repeat of IPL 2023 final as CSK lock horns with GT. New CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad has gone ahead with a change. Matheesha Pathirana has gone on to replace Maheesh Theekshana.

We were looking to bowl first, wicket is hard and looks similar to the first game. It was a rusty start (against RCB) but we came back well. Everyone showed good intent throughout the innings. Pathirana comes in for Theekshana,” said Ruturaj Gaikwad during the Toss.

Chennai Super Kings Playing XI: Ruturaj Gaikwad(c), Rachin Ravindra, Ajinkya Rahane, Daryl Mitchell, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Sameer Rizvi, MS Dhoni(w), Deepak Chahar, Tushar Deshpande, Mustafizur Rahman

Chennai Super Kings Subs: Matheesha Pathirana, Shardul Thakur, Shaik Rasheed, Nishant Sindhu, Mitchell Santner

Gujarat Titans won the toss and opted to bowl first. But for CSK, it is a return for Matheesha Pathirana. The young slinger is back in the squad after missing the opening game. He might not be in the starting XI but is most likely to come in as an impact place. The youngster goes on to replace fellow Lankan bowler Maheesh Theekshana.
