During the first innings, it was Noor and Sam Curran who bagged a few crucial wickets, with Devon Conway scoring 32. Noor got the better of Jadeja and Deepak Hooda, in quick succession. In the chase, Rahul Tripathi scored a fluent 47, before falling to Jaddu. Then it was finally the turn of Shivam Dube and MS Dhoni, to clear the ground a few times.

One of the highlights of the match was, Dhoni played his trademark helicopter shot against Pathirana, to dispatch the ball into the stands. But as per fans present in the stadium, he also got out twice to the same bowler, in the same fashion — getting caught by Jamie Overton at mid-off.
