After Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) lost to Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator to exit the IPL 2024, Ambati Rayudu made some remarks that infuriated the franchise and its supporters. On Friday, the former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) player took a jab at RCB and Virat Kohli.
Rayudu targets Virat Kohli & RCB
“My heart truly goes out to all the rcb supporters who have passionately supported the team over the years. If only the management and the leaders had the teams interests ahead of individual milestones…RCB would have won multiple titles,” Rayudu wrote.
“Just remember how many fantastic players have been let go off. Force your management to bring players who will put team’s interests first. A great new chapter can start from the mega auction,” he further wrote, advising the RCB management.

Rayudu’s criticism of Kohli & RCB fair?
Virat Kohli ended the season with 741 runs in 15 innings, but the next-best scorer has 300 runs less than him. It’s not just the trend this year, but only one from the start. Only one batter other than Kohli has scored more than 1000 runs for RCB in 17 seasons. It was also at the end of the season when others like Cameron Green, Rajat Patidar, and Faf du Plessis started to score.
Their bowlers were even worse, and for that, they have only themselves to blame. They released two of their highest wicket-takers in 2021 (Yuzvendra Chahal) and 2023 (Harshal Patel). Their third-best, Mohammed Siraj, has been up and down throughout the season.
