Ashwin-Jadeja reunite!
The deadly combination of Ravindra-Ravichandran have reunited at CSK and it is going to be a treat for the fans. Ashwin returned to Chennai after being picked for Rs 9.25 cr at the IPL 2025 auction while Jadeja was one of the team’s retentions. The duo combined have taken 340 wickets in IPL so far and are the most experienced pair of spinners. Undoubtedly, the entire bowling pack will be led by Ashwin while Jadeja will carry on his usual role of being the go-to man for getting crucial wickets. Additionally, the camaraderie between Ashwin and Jadeja and their ability to work in perfect sync from two ends will turn out to be a headache for other teams to deal with, especially at the spin friednly Chepauk.

Strong spin back-up
While Jadeja and Ashwin will be the side’s first-choice spinners, CSK have multiple options to choose from in their squad. Afghanistan spinner Noor Ahmad is one such option. Since making his IPL debut in 2023, he has gone on to bag 24 wickets from 23 games, and has displayed his ability to find breakthroughs for the team with timely wickets.
Another steal deal for CSK is Shreyas Gopal. The Karnataka spinner already has a hat-trick to his name in the IPL and replicated the feat in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy as well. With 52 wickets from as many IPL matches, Gopal can be the perfect replacement if CSK decide to give Ashwin or Jadeja rest. New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra can also have a go with the ball, should the team need reinforcements.
Matheesha Pathirana-led pace battery
CSK have a strong pace unit and have managed to make some good buys at IPL 2025 auction. Matheesha Pathirana, a CSK find, was retained by the team and is expected to lead the pace batery. He has turned out to be one of CSK’s go-to bowlers, both at powerplay and in death overs, to take wickets. He has already taken 34 wickets in just two seasons and is easily one of the most trusted and reliable pacers for CSK.
Khaleel Ahmed, who moved from DC to CSK, is a must-have bowler for the side in the playing XI. With 74 wickets in IPL to his name so far, Ahmed is easily one of the most experienced pacers in the line-up who can partner with Pathirana to trouble the batters.
All-rounder Sam Curran also returned to Chennai after spending a few years with PBKS. The all-rounder, who shot to fame in the IPL during his stint with CSK, is another must-have for the team and has the ability to bag crucial wickets.
Besides, CSK also have the option of choosing another pacer from a talent pool that comprises of Mukesh Choudhary, Gurjapneet Singh, Nathan Ellis, Shivam Dube and Vijay Shankar.
